Truman Wages lived in Arkansas when
gem fever hit after diamonds were discovered in the state. Truman Wages was living in Arkansas, in 1908 when the
boll weevil devastated nearby cotton fields. Mary Beatrice Stewart was living in Arkansas, in 1912 as the boll weevil continued to devastate cotton fields. Truman Wages was a young boy living in Hurricane, Arkansas, in 1910, around the time the
Boy Scouts of America was founded.
When the United States declared war on Germany in 1917, officially entering
World War I, Truman Wages was probably living in Hurricane, Arkansas. Mary Beatrice Stewart was also in Arkansas at this time.
